How to use online health services

1. Choose an online health service provider:

You can choose from any of the providers below and visit their website to find out what services they offer.

You may want to think about how you register when choosing a provider. Some providers let you register online with a NHS Login if you have one.

2.  Register with an online health service provider:

To use online health services, you need to register and prove who you are. There are 2 ways to do this.

a.   Prove who you are online

With some online health service providers, you can prove who you are online using NHS login.

To prove who you are you need to:

- Take a photo of your ID (passport, UK or EU driving licence, or European national identity card) using your phone.

- Record a short video of your face while you say 4 numbers, or use your camera to scan your face.

You can use your NHS login to register with more than one provider if you want to.

b.   Prove who you are at the Surgery

For all online health service providers, you can pre-register and then prove your identity at the surgery. Please note: we are currently asking patients to NOT attend the surgery to verify their identity.

Instead:

- Please email c83026@nhs.netwith your full name, address and date of birth from your registered email account.

- If everything matches we will verify your Identity and issue you with your Registration Details.

- You will need these to link your account to the practice and activate full access to your medication and medical record.

You can use these details to register with more than one online health service provider.

What is proxy access?

You can now request to act as a proxy for children, relatives and dependants that you care for using Patient Access.

This enables a parent, family member or carer to act on behalf of the patient with their access tailored accordingly. The proxy feature has gone through rigorous analysis to ensure there are no data privacy risks.

Appointment booking, repeat medication requests, messaging and, where applicable, access to medical records, can easily be accessed by the proxy once a relative or person has been linked.

Requesting proxy access

Unfortunately, proxy access is not available for all service providers. Please check with your provide to see if they offer this feature.

If the relative or person you wish to act on behalf of is at a different practice to yourself, you can ask your relative’s GP Practice to register you for proxy access.

What information do I need to provide to act on behalf of someone?

You will need to provide your identification (ID) to establish you are the person that you say you are  (see “Prove who you are” above).

A legal basis will also be required.

If the relative or person you wish to act on behalf of is aged over 11 years, consent from them for the proxy access must be provided to the Practice.

This can be submitted via email to s.c83026@nhs.net and should include the level of proxy access that is required, examples include: access to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions only; or access to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view the patient’s medical records, share or download the patient’s medical records.
