Booking a GP Appointment

Some problems may not need an appointment and may be answered via Patient Triage, click here to submit a request

  • Contact us for a GP appointment by calling 01778 579000.
  • Book in person at Reception
  • Book Online using the NHS app

These are the methods we use for you to seek medical advice. No other routes may be used for this and if other routes are used such as emails or letters, you will be advised to contact us using these 3 available routes.

At the point when you contact us to book, you may be given an appointment straight away or if there are none available, we will keep your details and call you back as soon as one is available.

Receptionists will send you a text message if you agree for you to fill in while you are waiting for your appointment. This will be looked at by the GPs within 3 working days and will enable us to potentially resolve the issue if it is a simple item not needing an actual appointment, or the GP may be able to request certain tests or take actions for you while you wait to speak to them. If you send a reply, please add as much detail as possible.

Please note, primary care is not an emergency service or an urgent care facility. If your need is deemed to be urgent and there are no same day appointments available, reception are trained to signpost you to urgent care.

Locally the providers are:

  • Spalding Urgent Treatment Centre
  • Stamford Minor Injuries
  • Peterborough A&E
  • 111 option 2 for acute mental health problems

111 for medical problems is only a triage system and is not a recognised route to obtaining a GP appointment.

Please note that all calls to the practice are recorded to ensure safety and quality and may be used for training purposes. You may request that recording is stopped at any time.

Evening and weekend GP appointments are available at Market Deeping and at other practices in the Primary Care Network area.

You can see a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional based on the nature of your problem.

This service is known as “Enhanced Access”.  There are a group of GP practices that work together to offer local services, your appointment may not be at the Deepings Practice, as there is more than one practice within the PCN that you can go to; these practices are Bourne Galletly, Abbeyview Crowland, Gosberton and Littlebury Holbeach.

You will be told at the time of booking the appointment, which surgery you will be going to.  The times for these appointments are normally between 18.30-20.00 Monday to Friday and between 8.00-17.00 on a Saturday.  These appointments are all pre-booked.

The Healthcare Professional will have access to your medical records, so your full medical history will be known and can be updated.

Appointments must be booked in advance by speaking to the reception staff at Market Deeping practice.

Please note that this is NOT an emergency service.

When making your appointment you may find that the receptionist will ask you for a brief reason for your appointment.

This is so that your appointment is booked appropriately.

Some conditions or problems need longer than others and some conditions or problems are dealt with by specific clinicians.

This is particularly important when making an appointment to see the practice nurse,  phlebotomist and nurse practitioner.

You can give personal as your appointment reason but please bear in mind that we ask for a reason to help you get the best care from your clinician.

All staff are bound by the confidentiality act, including receptionists.

Please let us know that you have arrived for your appointment otherwise the clinician will not know you are waiting.

You can use the self check-in screens to arrive yourself for your appointment at the surgery, these are available at both the Market Deeping and Glinton sites.

If you experience any problems checking yourself in upon arrival, then please let the Receptionist know.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

You can cancel your appointment online or by calling the dedicated telephone cancellation line, 01778 579000, option 1, option 1.

We value our patients. We know that most patients value us too, especially when they need us regularly. You know we can deal with most of your health problems, keep you out of hospital, & have your best interests at heart. The problem is with the mismanagement of the NHS.

Your GP is an expert in general medical practice - trained over 10 years to deal with complex problems, spot serious symptoms, & decide when you need specialist help at the hospital.

But did you know that your practice receives just £112.50 per year for each patient, whatever their health needs. That is less than the cost of an annual TV licence.

It is just 31p a day for every patient registered with us - less than the cost of an apple.

General Practice is being broken. We know you deserve better than this
