Inguinal hernia

Initially, you will be offered a dedicated appointment with the surgeon to discuss treatment options and consent.
If the procedure is appropriate, a second appointment is agreed for a primary mesh hernia repair which is performed via local anaesthetic nerve block. The procedure takes approximately 70 minutes to complete after which time, you will be able to go home. Once the anaesthetic has worn off, any discomfort is then managed with over-the-counter painkillers. Staples are used to close the wound which are then removed by your GP Practice 10 days post operation.
